A leading engineering firm in Tucson is seeking an experienced Facilities Engineer to oversee the design, construction, and maintenance of their facilities. Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in facilities engineering or a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular facility inspections to proactively identify and address potential hazards, operational inefficiencies, and compliance issues.
  • Drive energy efficiency efforts by identifying and implementing sustainability initiatives, optimizing building management systems (BMS), and performing energy audits.
  • Utilize findings from energy audits to reduce energy consumption and operational costs, contributing to the company's environmental goals.
  • Ensure all facilities meet local, state, and federal compliance standards by conducting routine safety audits and updating compliance policies as needed.
  • Maintain and enforce the use of safety equipment throughout all facilities, providing training for employees and contractors.
  • Develop and manage emergency preparedness protocols to ensure facilities are equipped to handle potential incidents safely.
  • Supervise and manage the facilities team, including in-house staff and third-party contractors responsible for specialized services such as repair and renovation.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Operations and Environmental Safety, to align facility operations with company-wide goals and standards.
  • Oversee contractor performance, ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on facility data, creating detailed records of maintenance activities, repair history, and operational costs.
  • Provide technical support to various departments, offering expertise in facility-related challenges, equipment upgrades, and emergency response protocols.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Engineer to manage the design, construction, and maintenance of our company's physical infrastructure. In this role, the Facilities Engineer will ensure that all facilities are safe, efficient, compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, and optimized for energy efficiency and sustainability. This position requires expertise in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, preventive maintenance, and project management to ensure smooth operations across all sites.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in facilities engineering with technical knowledge of MEP systems, experience in compliance and regulatory standards, and the ability to lead facility-related projects from concept through completion. This is a prime opportunity for a motivated engineer passionate about facilities management and improving operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and construction of new facilities and upgrades to existing infrastructure, ensuring projects are functional, efficient, and meet safety standards.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and vendors to coordinate building projects, focusing on cost control, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to ensure all construction aligns with facility engineering standards.
