Job summary

The Equus Group seeks a Senior M&A Consultant to support healthcare transactions across the country, partnering with hospitals, health systems, and physician groups.

You will perform financial modeling, due diligence, and strategic analysis, preparing executive presentations and client deliverables while mentoring junior staff. This role offers high exposure to Board-level stakeholders and meaningful career progression.

Qualifications

  • 3–6+ years of investment banking or equivalent M&A experience.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, joint ventures, or strategic transactions within healthcare is preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex analyses to executive audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Collaborative, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a client‑facing consulting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support buy-side and sell-side healthcare M&A engagements from initial evaluation through transaction execution.
  • Perform financial modeling, valuation analysis, market assessments, and strategic due diligence for hospitals, health systems, physician groups, and other healthcare organizations.
  • Analyze financial statements, operating performance, reimbursement trends, and market dynamics to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Develop executive‑level presentations, Board materials, and client deliverables that clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Assist in the development of transaction strategies, partnership evaluations, joint ventures, affiliations, and strategic alternatives.
  • Conduct industry research, competitive analyses, and market intelligence to support client decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with senior consultants and engagement leaders to manage project timelines, deliverables, and client communications.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and workshops with executive leadership teams and Boards.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the continued development of the M&A practice.

Their Mergers & Acquisitions practice advises executive leadership teams and Boards of Directors through every stage of the transaction lifecycle, helping clients evaluate opportunities, execute transactions, and create long-term value.

As a Senior M&A Consultant, you will play a key role in supporting healthcare transactions by conducting financial and operational analyses, developing strategic recommendations, managing workstreams, and collaborating directly with senior client executives.   • MBA, CPA, CFA, or other relevant professional designation is a plus.
