Job summary

City of Newport News seeks a Facility Coordinator in the Human Services Department to oversee maintenance, safety, and renovation activities across city facilities. Under limited supervision, you will coordinate inspections, manage service orders, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

You will collaborate with building managers and staff, maintain records, support resource planning, and stay current with federal, state, and City guidelines. A valid Virginia driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma and 3-5 years of experience in carpentry, plumbing or electrical services.
• Experience in HVAC/mechanical services or building/facilities management.

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules and performs routine building inspections.
• Maintains inventory of furniture and office equipment and coordinates with staff.
• Responds to staff inquiries and manages service requests and quality assurance.
• Acts as liaison to local agencies for building maintenance.
• Remains updated on federal, state, and City facility and security guidelines.
