Job summary

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and School in Newport News, VA seeks a Facilities Manager to maintain parish and school buildings, grounds, and systems. You will supervise custodial staff, coordinate events, and manage repairs, with a focus on safety and reliability in church operations.

You will collaborate with the Pastor/Principal, oversee vendors, and ensure compliance with diocesan policies. This role requires hands-on leadership, planning, and a service-oriented approach to parish

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with training in building maintenance.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in facilities management and supervising others.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with Pastor, Principal and staff.
• Proficient in computer applications and scheduling.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain OLMC Campus buildings and grounds including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and custodial.
• Monitor equipment, perform tests, and keep maintenance records.
• Oversee custodial staff and event coordination and scheduling.
• Supervise contractors and vendors for renovations and projects.
• Develop relationships with contractors for efficient operations.
• Maintain campus inventory and review annually.
• Provide facility support to IT as needed and handle emergencies.
• Cover evening and weekend Masses and events when required.
