Job summary

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is seeking a dependable Facilities Maintenance Technician to maintain safe, functional facilities across Hampton and Newport News. This on-site, hands-on role covers preventive maintenance, repairs, and general building upkeep including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting.

Qualified candidates have at least 2 years of building maintenance experience, a basic understanding of electrical/plumbing/carpentry, and a valid VA driver’s

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of building maintenance experience.
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Valid VA Driver's License with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and routine maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installations involving doors, tile, blinds, windows, drywall, gutters, shingles, exterior trim, and other building components.
• Perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs, including switches, outlets, lighting, fuses, cords, leaks, faucets, fixture valves, drain clogs, wax rings, and related equipment.
• Complete painting, carpentry, masonry, and modular office reconfiguration projects; prepare surfaces and apply paint, primers, and sealers.
• Troubleshoot building systems and equipment, identify malfunctions, maintain maintenance records and parts inventory, and report significant issues to the Facility Manager.
• Support special facility projects, event setups, and other maintenance needs throughout H-NNCSB locations.
