Job summary

Volunteers of America–Greater New York (VOA–Greater New York) is seeking an Assistant Environmental Manager in Rahway, NJ to oversee cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds, including repairs and renovations. The role supports Northern New Jersey facilities and programs.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with 3 years of maintenance or construction experience, and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record. A comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; 3 years maintenance/construction experience preferred.
• Valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record as per agency procedures.

Responsibilities

• Clean and repair facilities according to schedule and priority.
• Assist in renovating facilities across the Northern New Jersey service area.
• Prepare facilities areas for appropriate program use and maintain work orders.
• Accept and transport deliveries of supplies, furniture, and other program materials.
• Assist in routine site safety inspections and preventive maintenance (heating, refrigeration, boilers, plumbing, carpentry).
• Provide on-call support rotating with the facilities team; assist in emergencies.
