Job Overview
Department of Residential Facilities manages maintenance and housekeeping for over 70 residence halls, Greek chapter houses, and recreational facilities across a 2.7 million square foot campus. The Facilities Projects Manager oversees all assigned projects and contractor work.
General Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, track, close out, and manage all assigned projects.
- Coordinate and manage work of university on‑call contractors and outside contractors.
- Lead projects including emergency work, life safety, small‑scale renovations, concrete, masonry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, painting, carpentry, steel/iron works, roofing, and tree trimming.
- Communicate with customers and internal users regarding construction methods, materials, and timelines.
- Develop solutions and complete projects that lack finished design specifications or drawings.
Physical Demands
- Work from ladders, lifts, or scaffolding.
- Work in, on, around, over, and under fixed equipment and machinery.
- Manually manipulate heavy equipment, tools, and supplies, exerting force up to 70 lbs.
- Operate in hazardous or irritating environments and adverse weather or temperature conditions.
- Wear and work in personal protective equipment.
- Perform repetitive motion, bending, stooping, walking, and climbing while inspecting work.
- Work extended hours due to weather emergencies, delayed openings, early closings, and system changeovers.
- Lead snow removal activities, which may occur outside regular hours and in cold weather.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a facility of comparable size and scope.
- Journeyman level knowledge of a building trade such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical.
- Driver’s license with fewer than six points.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years of facilities, operations, construction, renovation, or maintenance experience.
- Up to four (4) years of relevant work experience may substitute for one year of education.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of facilities management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
- Experience using estimating software.
Conditions of Employment
- On‑site presence is required; remote work one day per week or alternate schedule may be available after probation.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.
- Essential employee for catastrophic, weather, or emergency situations; may be required to come to campus when closed.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $109,435 – $114,000.
- Regular Exempt benefits included.
