Job summary

NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) seeks a professional to supervise a workforce responsible for day-to-day maintenance repairs for all NEXCOM Headquarters locations and provide technical support for repairs and renovations at NEX stores.

You will manage a maintenance program, forecast equipment and budget, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with DOD and building codes while coordinating with planners and operations to drive cost-effective projects.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a team of full-time facility renovation and construction associates; plans repairs, alterations, and improvements.
• Reviews work performance and monitors labor costs; directs project staff to ensure understanding of job requirements.
• Directs renovations and oversees new construction, ensuring compliance with DOD instructions and building codes.
• Provides staffing across areas; schedules work; assigns areas of responsibilities; approves leave.
• Evaluates work performance of subordinates; coordinates with personnel office on hiring, transfers, promotions, discipline, grievances.
• Investigates facility conditions to inform future infrastructure projects; coordinates with planning, design tech, and operations.
• Evaluates department expenses/budgets; ensures objectives; monitors and reports expenditures.
• Maintains records using electronic systems to account for work performance and charges.
• Supports development of project packages for internal projects and PPV projects; reviews plan submittals for accuracy.
• Performs constructability reviews on project requirements.
• Assists with planning and development of functional/building layouts including space, HVAC, electrical, lighting, etc.
• Assists with cost estimates for procurement of materials; collaborates with managers to deliver cost-effective solutions.
• Provides construction/building inspection services; liaises with Base operations, NAVFAC Engineering to ensure coordinated plans and inspections.
• Provides support for statements of work for contract execution; identifies costs, descriptions, requirements, and schedules.
• Provides technical support to NEXCOM store and lodging operations; coordinates repair/renovation efforts with General Managers.
• Monitors GSA program for leased vehicles including preventive maintenance; ensures safety and energy conservation measures.
• Carries out EEO policies and communicates support to subordinates; ensures equality in qualifications and awards.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license; may travel up to 25% annually.
