Job summary

BRC, Bowery Residents Committee, is seeking an entry-level Facilities Porter to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across its residential, shelter, and program facilities in New York City. The role supports operations, safety, and client satisfaction while coordinating with maintenance staff and managers.

Responsibilities include daily custodial tasks, supply management, light maintenance, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 1+ year of custodial or related experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation, and safety practices.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical duties.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented facilities management environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily custodial duties in residential, shelter, and office spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and disinfect common areas, offices, restrooms, kitchens, dining areas, and client spaces.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, paper products, and restroom items.
• Assist with light maintenance and setup for meetings and events.
• Report maintenance issues and safety hazards; maintain logs and records.
