Job summary

Maine College of Art & Design seeks an Assistant Director of Facilities to lead essential campus operations, maintenance, and project oversight. You’ll coordinate vendor work, manage budgets, and ensure safety, compliance, and reliability across MECA&D’s buildings and grounds.

Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, is expected to support campus operations. The role requires collaboration with faculty, staff, and external partners to maintain a respectful, inclusive campus

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities operations and maintenance.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Working knowledge of building systems, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, fire safety).
• Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and facilities documentation.
• Proficiency with facilities work-order systems or project management tools (preferred).
• Experience in higher education or multi-building environments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily facilities operations, ensuring buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and functional.
• Lead capital and maintenance projects from planning through completion and track timelines and vendor invoices.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain safety documentation.
• Provide service-oriented support to faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
• Assist with training, scheduling, and team communication.
