Job summary

Denver Public Schools in Colorado is seeking an Assistant Custodian Level I–IV to supervise repair and maintenance of facilities, systems, and grounds with consideration to staff and student safety so that the facility is operational.

You will communicate and coordinate with school staff, students, and community members, perform cleaning and floor care, inspect equipment, and supervise custodial staff, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and completion of district training.
• Must successfully complete district new employee training within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, assign, and train custodial staff; support the Facility Manager when required.
• Communicate and coordinate with school staff, students, and community members.
• Maintain facility security by locking doors, windows, and gates; report unsafe conditions or needed repairs.
• Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, drinking fountains, cafeterias, and other facility areas; gather and dispose of trash.
• Perform floor care including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, shampooing, stripping, sealing, and polishing.
• Safely use chemicals and power equipment; remove graffiti, gum, and other markings, applying protective coatings as needed.
• Inspect and clean equipment, air vents, and filters; perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs.
• Conduct grounds work and assist with pool maintenance in compliance with district and safety codes.
• Move and assemble furniture, distribute supplies, and prepare spaces for scheduled events or activities.
