Job summary

The Henry Ford in Michigan seeks an experienced Facilities Skilled Trades Manager to lead maintenance, repair, and operation of buildings and systems across its campuses, including museum venues and educational facilities.

You will coach both union and non‑union teams, manage preventive and predictive maintenance, oversee budgets and capital projects, and partner with partners to deliver safe, reliable environments for guests, students, volunteers, and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
• Eight (8)+ years of progressive relevant facilities management or building operations experience.
• Five (5)+ years of leadership experience supervising maintenance or skilled trades personnel, preferably in a union environment.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets, capital projects, contractor relationships, and operational resources.
• Valid Michigan driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop union and non‑union Skilled Trades employees through hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, performance management, and employee development.
• Plan and oversee daily facilities operations, including preventive maintenance, repairs, renovations, capital projects, work order priorities, staffing, and resource deployment.
• Manage the Facilities work order management system, ensuring work requests are prioritized, assigned, tracked, and completed while monitoring workload and performance metrics.
• Ensure facilities and building systems remain operational to support daily operations, programming, events, and emergencies.
• Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize asset reliability and minimize downtime.
• Develop and monitor departmental operating and capital budgets; manage labor, materials, equipment, and contracted services.
• Manage construction projects, contractor performance, and vendor relationships; collaborate on capital initiatives.
• Lead departmental safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, NFPA, and applicable codes; promote safety culture.
• Provide operational leadership during facility emergencies and after‑hours incidents as needed.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement strategies to enhance service delivery and asset management.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, regulatory documentation, and performance metrics.
• Foster accountability, collaboration, and exceptional customer service across Facilities Operations.
