Job summary

The County of Delaware seeks an Operations Manager for the County Facilities Management Department to oversee planning and execution of maintenance and custodial projects across county campuses outside the Government Center in Media.

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, you will supervise staff, coordinate preventive maintenance, manage work orders, and ensure project delivery within budget and policy constraints while representing facilities on committees and with vendors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college or trade school preferred.
• At least 10 years of relevant maintenance or custodial experience.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Proficiency in written and verbal communications.
• Ability to travel within the County to attend meetings, including occasional evenings/weekends.
• Ability to schedule maintenance work and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate preventative maintenance activities at County facilities and park facilities outside the Government Center Complex.
• Perform routine inspections of major building systems to identify maintenance and repair work.
• Manage, maintain and monitor work orders; provide excellent customer service.
• Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to staff.
• Develop project plans with resource and budget considerations; maintain project files.
• Attend design and construction progress meetings and prepare administrative reports.
