Job summary

LifeWorks Austin is seeking a Facilities Operations Manager to lead the day-to‑day Facilities Department, supervise staff, manage vendors, plan budgets, and ensure safe, reliable building operations across sites.

The role balances hands‑on maintenance with leadership, emergency response, and compliance activities, delivering value in a nonprofit youth-services context. Excellent organizational and cross‑functional collaboration skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree, trade-school education, or technical training in facilities maintenance, construction, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building systems, or related field preferred.
• At least five years in facilities maintenance, building operations, or related area, with hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day Facilities Department operations and supervises staff.
• Manages the work-order process from intake to closure and communication.
• Oversees facilities across sites, preventive maintenance, and asset condition.
• Performs hands-on maintenance and basic renovations; escalates licensed work.
• Coordinates inspections, permits, and life-safety compliance.
• Maintains records of inspections, maintenance, warranties, and vendor service.
• Monitors budget, expenses, and procurement; reports to leadership.
• Coordinates events, moves, and site readiness.
• Responds to urgent issues and after-hours on-call.
