Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California seeks an Operating Engineer to perform routine and skilled maintenance of buildings, equipment and facilities in the Santa Clarita area. The role involves inspecting and repairing boilers, HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems and more, ensuring safe operation and compliance with regulations.

You will maintain repair records, support the Chief Engineer, and work with hospital and clinic teams to keep systems reliable and compliant with policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical manuals.
• Experience with building operations and maintenance (3–5 years).
• EPA Refrigerant 608 license or must obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Valid California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment and facilities for proper operation; report issues to Chief Engineer.
• Perform routine electrical, plumbing, mechanical maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain records of repairs and maintenance activities.
• Assist with boiler and HVAC systems and ensure safety devices function.
• Interact professionally with Health Plan members and staff.
