Job description

Tatte began with a simple belief: great food has the power to bring people together. What started in a home kitchen has grown into a collection of bakeries and cafés inspired by Eastern Mediterranean and Levant traditions, where handcrafted food, exceptional coffee, warm hospitality, and beautiful spaces create moments of connection every day.

Our mission is simple: To Inspire, Care For, and Nurture Life. Every Day.

THE ROLE

The Facilities Manager helps inspire genuine attachment to each café by keeping our cafés and catering locations safe, well maintained and running smoothly. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the role oversees facilities across a portfolio of cafés and catering locations, starting in the Boston market and expanding as Tatte grows.

The role will help drive change as we transition from being reactive to being proactive, and will help deliver the facilities department strategy with the Director of Facilities and the wider facilities team. The Facilities Manager is organized, safety-focused and service-oriented, and trusted by our café and catering teams to maintain facilities proactively and resolve issues promptly.

Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Oversight & Maintenance
  • Own the oversight of facilities across the Boston market portfolio of cafés and catering locations, and future markets as they are added.
  • Oversee the Service Channel facilities platform and manage repairs in conjunction with preventative maintenance across café and catering spaces, systems and equipment.
  • Ensure every location is safe, legally compliant and in good working order (including food service equipment, walk-in refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning services, security systems and pest control) through regular on-site audits and walkthroughs.
  • Lead and support the Facilities Technician team, setting priorities and coaching on quality repairs.
  • Be on call to address emergency situations 24 hours a day.
Vendors, Budgets & Procurement
  • Manage budgets for vendor preventative maintenance contracts, repairs and capital projects.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Obtain, negotiate and approve (within defined approval authority) quotes for parts, services and labor.
  • Approve all facilities-related vendor invoices.
Projects & Development
  • Lead special projects to improve, expand, relocate or otherwise change existing and new Tatte facilities.
  • Visit development sites regularly to monitor progress with the Construction team, and walk through projects to prepare for future maintenance.
  • Evaluate maintenance requirements to help the Construction team improve the safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness of future facilities.
Compliance, Reporting & Relationships
  • Manage permit and license renewals for all Tatte facilities in the Boston market and future markets.
  • Analyze and report on facility financials and performance, including equipment expenses, maintenance issues and longevity.
  • Develop positive relationships with café and catering operations teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of four years of related experience and/or training.
  • Experience overseeing multi-site facilities, including repairs, preventative maintenance and capital expenditure (capex) projects.
  • Experience using a facilities management platform (Service Channel preferred) to manage multi-location businesses and handle repairs, maintenance and contractor networks.
  • Strong vendor management skills.
  • Ability to influence change and drive results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information, handle sensitive issues, deliver great customer service and help develop our café teams.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
  • Able to recognize urgent situations and respond accordingly.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and intranet/internet.
  • Familiarity with legal contracts, such as leases and service agreements.
  • Able to read construction plans/documents, technical specifications and schematics, with working knowledge of architectural, electrical and mechanical systems.
