Job summary

Plymouth, MI is seeking a Facilities Manager to plan, manage and coordinate resources for the Craftsmanship Verification Center's building, grounds and shop equipment. Under the Director of Facilities, you will oversee maintenance programs, budgets and safety, and supervise internal staff and external contractors to ensure reliable operations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in facilities management, strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical and building systems, and proven ability to lead teams,

Qualifications

  • Minimum: 2–4 years college coursework in Business, Building/Facilities Management or related fields; 5 years hands-on experience in similar role or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's in Business, Building/Facilities Management or related fields; 5–7 years of experience.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under the general direction of the Director of Facilities, plans, manages and coordinates all resources to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of the Craftsmanship Verification Center including all building infrastructure, grounds and shop equipment.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, schedules and directs employees and external contractors (Annual Substation Maintenance) for the maintenance of the building, grounds and equipment which includes the regular maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and other components of the building and shop infrastructure.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain Preventive Maintenance Program for all major building/facility components and equipment.
  • Managing, planning and scheduling of all for the following OH Door and Dock Plate Contractors for preventative maintenance, upgrades and repairs.
  • Assists Director in establishing and implementing corporate/departmental budget, capitol/expense projects, location standards, regulations and procedures, and prioritizing related projects, etc. accordingly.
  • Designs operation and maintenance of building systems, building design and construction, roofing, interior walls, ceiling and flooring, HVAC systems, plumbing, lighting, pest control, solid waste management, environmental safety, fire protection systems, etc.
  • Manages, planning and scheduling of all building renovations and makes recommendations/selections and supervises contractors.
  • Manages, planning, and scheduling of Mechanical Contractors for all facility HVAC equipment preventative maintenance, annual combustion audits, chemical treatment, modifications and repairs.
  • Manages all custodial services, internal and contracted, lawn and landscaping maintenance, snow and trash removal, painting and minor repairs, and other services.
  • Oversees site-specific security functions, shipping and receiving, and other miscellaneous building requirements in accordance with established standards, regulations, and procedures.
  • Facilitate/Maintenance Safety Training team member for NFPA 70E/Arc Flash, Fluke Meter, IR Camera, Meggar and Schematic refresher training. Responsible for training and supervising qualified employees, in accordance with company policy and guidelines.
  • Maintains a safe working environment for departmental staff as well as functions as the Facility Safety representative.
  • Managing, planning, and scheduling of all Fire Protection contractors for preventative maintenance, upgrades and repairs of underground suppression system, fire pumps a nd notification systems.
  • Develops and maintains all systems and records supporting customer service requests ensuring timeliness and effectiveness of response.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of department and building compliance with all Quality Initiatives including such things as QS9000 certifications, First Time Quality program, 5S program, documented Process Flow(s), etc.
  • EMR Representative for ISO 14001 and Facility /Maintenance liaison for site Security Services.
  • Performs other duties as required or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Skill level normally associated with 2-4 years college course work (degree) in Business, Building/Facilities Management or related fields, and 5 years hands on experience in same or similar position or its equivalent.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of such things as boilers, water treatment systems, machinery, custodial services, preventative maintenance, building and grounds, HVAC operations, etc.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred:

  • Skill level normally associated with a Bachelors Degree in Business, Building/Facilities Management or related fields and 5-7 years of experience in same or similar position or its equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Materials and process flow charting software
