Job description

I. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the overall maintenance, cleanliness and functionality of our facilities. This role involves strategic planning, coordination of maintenance activities, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. The Facilities Manager will lead a team of maintenance and custodial professionals while collaborating with all other departments to achieve organizational goals.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Facilities Maintenance:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance programs to ensure the efficient operation of all facilities.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify areas requiring maintenance or improvement.
  • Coordinate and oversee repair and maintenance activities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers.
B. Safety and Compliance:
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment for all employees.
  • Stay current with local, state, and federal regulations related to facilities management and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions for staff.
C. Budget Management:
  • Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
  • Obtain competitive bids for services and negotiate contracts to maximize value.
D. Space Planning and Utilization:
  • Collaborate with various departments to optimize space utilization.
  • Plan and coordinate office relocations or reconfigurations.
  • Lead and manage a team of maintenance and custodial staff.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for team members.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
F. Emergency Response:
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios.
  • Act as the primary point of contact during facility-related emergencies.
III. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in facilities management are a plus.
B. Experience:
  • Proven experience in facilities management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management and cost control.
C. Skills:
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Knowledge of building systems, codes, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
D. Communication:
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
