Facilities Manager
In this management (at-will)position, you will manage, supervise, and coordinate the activities and operations of all physical properties owned and operated by the City of Colorado Springs, including providing professional and technical assistance to staff. Typical departments and functions supervised might include a combination of two or more of the following: structural repair and maintenance, electrical repair and maintenance, and mechanical repair and maintenance.
This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year.

As a Facilities Manager, you will:
- Assume management responsibility for the operation and maintenance of buildings, structures, grounds, infrastructure, snow removal, security systems, fire suppression and detection systems, and elevators
- Analyze costs to replace or repair equipment; make recommendations as appropriate
- Develop and administer the annual budget; participate in the forecasting of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments
- Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs; recommend and administer policies and procedures
- Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for staff; assign work activities, projects, and programs; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems
- Select, train, motivate, and evaluate personnel; provide and/or coordinate staff training; implement discipline and termination procedures

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of
- Operation characteristics, services, and activities of a facilities maintenance program
- Physical plant operations
- Facilities construction methods, materials, and equipment
- Purchasing and service contract principles and policies
- Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
- Principles and practices of municipal budget preparation and administration
Ability to
- Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of facilities and grounds maintenance
- Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, or a related field.
- Six (6) years of full-time professional facility maintenance operations or related experience
- Two years of administrator and/or supervisory experience

Physical Demands:
This position requires the ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
