Job summary

Inspiration Field is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform repairs, janitorial duties, snow and weed removal, and landscaping at agency facilities. You will conduct regular maintenance, follow safety rules, and keep accurate records in a person-centered environment.

SUMMARY : The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance repairs, janitorial duties, snow and weed removal and landscaping at agency-owned and leased facilities and properties. Responsibilities include performing repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities; janitorial and landscaping duties; perform regularly-scheduled maintenance checks; follow established safety rules, policies, and procedures; and maintain required records. This position is responsible for responding to and resolving maintenance and janitorial needs in a timely manner in a person-centered environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Perform scheduled maintenance checks on all agency-owned/leased property and perform repairs and remodeling as needed.

Assist in maintaining the overall quality and appearance of the administrative office building by performing janitorial duties to include but not limited to: vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, hand scrubbing, carpet cleaning, floor buffing, etc. in offices, restrooms, program rooms, and common areas as necessary.

Ensure that the agency is compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations by maintaining all agency property by ensuring that the buildings are in good repair and free of hazards, including but not limited to those caused by electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling.

Respond to and resolve maintenance and janitorial requests assigned by the Facilities Manager and other management staff, as assigned. Some maintenance projects may need to be coordinated with other departments.

Operate construction and maintenance equipment and power tools. Maintain hand tools and assigned equipment by performing preventative maintenance on equipment.

Pass the Medication Administration test with no more than two attempts and administer medication to individuals according to physician orders and using appropriate administration techniques as outlined in the Medication Administration course, if needed.

Must be able to perform Lifting and Transferring techniques as trained and pass performance testing. The employee will occasionally lift and/or push and pull up to 100 lbs. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement.

Driving of agency vehicles as necessary for transportation of clients and agency business as assigned.

Able to regularly sit, walk, stand, climb up and down stairs, physically restrain clients pursuant to training (when necessary) and sit at a computer for long periods of time and repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times (typing, data entry).

Communicate through speech with individuals in service and public in both quiet and noisy environments.

Operate a personal computer and related software.

Tolerate various levels of stress and meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

Demonstrate specific vision abilities which include close, distance, and depth perception and able to read handwritten or typed material, and able to adjust focus.

Work and concentrate in both noisy and quiet environments.

Squat, stoop, kneel, and reach above the head. Forward motion will occasionally be required.

Work inside the building a majority of the time.

Essential Duties include the Physical Demands listed below.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Order and maintain necessary supplies, materials, and equipment within budgetary guidelines.

Obtain bids from outside vendors for major repair work at agency-owed/leased facilities.

Maintain fire alarm systems, ensuring they are in good working order. Perform test on fire alarms on regularly-scheduled basis and keep required records of test results.

Inspect agency fire extinguishers on an annual basis.

Inspect agency fire suppression system drip drums in accordance with established procedures for each unit.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of daily work by communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Assist with snow and weed removal at facilities by safely operating power equipment and hand tools including but not limited to, plow truck, ATV, side by side, tractor, snow blowers, shovels, weed trimmer, weed sprayer, etc.

Complete carpentry duties for new build and repairs of existing facilities including, but not limited, to framing, hanging drywall, mud, tape, sanding, and painting, etc.

Lay, repair, and maintain all types of flooring including but not limited to ceramic tile, vinyl, luxury vinyl tile (LVT), vinyl composition tile (VCT), carpet, carpet squares, etc.

Complete light-duty and basic electrical repairs including but not limited to replacing light switches, outlets and receptacles, light fixtures, ballasts, etc.

Complete light duty and basic plumbing repairs including but not limited to water lines, drains, toilets, sinks, lawn sprinkler installation and repairs, etc.

Maintain and repair facility HVAC systems to include but not limited to heaters, air conditioners, changing filters, thermostats, etc.

Light-duty concrete work including but not limited to pouring sidewalks, pads, footers, foundations, etc.

Maintain certifications for First Aid, CPR, crisis prevention, and other courses as required.

Prepare and submit clear and concise reports, proposals, and invoices in a timely manner.

Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed.

Possess strong organizational and time management abilities.

Participate in staff training activities and staff meetings, as outlined in the agency's staff development curriculum.

Work flexible schedules or within various environments as the supervisor or their designee deem necessary. Staff attendance and promptness to assigned shifts is essential. The responsibilities of this position may require staff to be able to work irregular, extended, and/or be available for as-needed work hours, nights, weekend, holidays, etc.

Advise supervisor of concerns and problems that arise within the agency.

Follow agency procedures when purchasing items on behalf of the agency.

Follow agency policies and procedures in carrying out duties.

Safeguard all agency funds and property.

Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Director or their designee.

Other reasonable duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

MINIMUM/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED AND at least three years of demonstrated experience working in household repair or construction field or maintenance positions. Must be at least 18 years of age. Persons hired into this position must be licensed drivers and have reliable transportation. If current license is from out-of-state, a valid Colorado Driver’s License is required within ten days of hire. Background check, drug and alcohol check, reference check, and motor vehicle checks must be passed. Current motor vehicle insurance is required. Driving is an essential job duty.

Preferred: 4-5 years of demonstrated experience working in household repair or maintenance positions or construction field

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, walk, and stand. Occasionally, movement that requires twisting at the neck and/or trunk more than the average person, squatting/ stooping/kneeling, reaching above the head, forward motion and climbing on ladders will be required. The employee will continuously be required to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. The employee must be able to communicate through speech with clients and public. Hearing requirements include conversation in both quiet and noisy environments. The employee will occasionally lift and/or push and pull up to 100 pounds. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement. This position demands tolerance for various levels of stress.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays, etc. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Occasionally this position requires working irregular or extended work hours.

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, manuals, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, clients, clients' parents, and/or the general public is required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Able to apply basic mathematical skills to include concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY : Able to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Facilities Manager provides supervision of this position. In general, this position requires that the individual work independently approximately 90% of the time. Providing mentoring duties and oversight for individuals in service may be required.

OTHER SKILLS:

Able to work with others, with system issues, and able to work within designated time frames. Patience in dealing with staff, individuals in service, and parents. Able to develop effective working relationships with staff, individuals in service, and the community. Good communication skills and able to work with others as a team is a must. Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Able to perform duties in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
