Job summary

County of Sandoval is seeking a facilities maintenance worker to perform routine preventive and general maintenance of buildings, systems, and equipment in the assigned area of responsibility, ensuring safety and functionality of the facility.

Responsibilities include maintenance on electrical, plumbing, grounds, carpentry, locksmith, custodial and HVAC, operating tools, keeping buildings safe and clean, responding to emergency requests, landscape and snow removal as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year of facilities, building or grounds maintenance experience with knowledge of and use of various hand tools and equipment.
  • Valid New Mexico driver’s license.
  • Must pass a criminal background investigation, drug and alcohol screening, pre-employment physical.
  • Willingness to work weekdays, weekends, holidays and mandatory overtime.

  • Install and maintain electrical components such as motors, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, switches and generators.
  • Operate County vehicles as necessary to reach remote or local facilities and to transport equipment and supplies.

Physical Demands

Work requires walking, standing or sitting for prolonged periods; stooping, climbing and using ladders; lifting or carrying items up to 60lbs; operating power tools and heavy equipment; working outdoors in various weather conditions; exposure to chemicals, power tools, and infectious disease. Requires visual and hearing acuity to interact safely with inmates and coworkers.
