Job summary

Harford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a maintenance technician to troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and replace security, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems in a county facility. The role includes supervising inmates on various details and coordinating with external contractors.

The position offers on-site work in Bel Air, MD with opportunities for overtime, holiday pay, and a comprehensive benefits package. A high school diploma or GED and three years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate recognized by the Maryland State Board of Education.
• Three (3) years of related maintenance experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with no more than 3 points and a relatively clean record with no convictions for DUI.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, inspect, repair and replace security mechanisms, plumbing devices, electrical devices, and HVAC systems.
• Coordinate and oversee contractors for repairs or installations.
• Supervise inmates during various details and maintain inventory of tools.
• Maintain and update chemical safety data sheets for the Maintenance Unit; manage purchasing and billing.
• Be on call for emergencies and maintain timely communication with supervisors.
