Harford County Government seeks a semi-skilled helper to support the Building Construction and Repair Supervisor and journeyman Building Maintenance Mechanic. The role involves routine tasks in carpentry, drywall, drop ceilings, floors, painting, and grounds maintenance under supervision.

Responsibilities include operating power tools, transporting furniture, driving a county vehicle, and assisting in more complex tasks.

Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of common practices, procedures, materials, tools, and equipment used in building trades and grounds maintenance.
Knowledge of safety precautions in those areas.
Skill in the use of hand tools and ground tools.
Ability to use ladders and work on roofs.
Familiarity with shop drawings and blueprints.
Skill in using and maintaining hand, grounds, and power tools/equipment.
Ability to work with others to complete tasks.
Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds and stand for long periods.
Ability to read drawings, work orders, and reports.

Responsibilities

Performs minor tasks in repair and renovation in carpentry, drywall, ceilings, floors, painting, and related trades.
Assists in more difficult tasks in building trades.
Keeps equipment safe and in good working order; operates power tools.
Moves and transports office furniture and surplus items as required.
Drives a County vehicle to carry out assignments.
