Job summary

Baltimore County is seeking a Correctional Maintenance Mechanic II to perform maintenance and repair work on the physical structure and facility systems in county correctional facilities. Under general supervision, duties include plumbing, electrical, mechanical, heating, and air conditioning systems.

Requires four years of building operation experience and a valid Maryland driver’s license, with a background check and drug screening. Hours are 7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 3:00 PM–11:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Four years' experience in building operation and maintenance.
• Formal training or education related to building operation and maintenance may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
• Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and routine repair of building facilities, systems, and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret building plans and sketches.
• Possession of a valid Maryland class C driver's license is required at appointment.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance and routine repair throughout the facility.
• Operates, maintains, and repairs plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, and ventilating systems and equipment.
• Performs routine carpentry, painting, or masonry tasks.
• Installs and replaces components in heating, air conditioning, or ventilating equipment.
• Keeps records of work performed, time required, and material used.
• Assists skilled trades workers on projects and may lead lesser-skilled workers.
