Job summary

JCC Chicago is seeking a Maintenance Staff member to support Camp Chi/Perlstein Retreat Center, performing repairs across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC, and more on expansive grounds.

Duties include setting up facilities for events, maintaining safety systems, and providing weekend coverage; requires high school diploma and experience with tools, plus a Certified Pool Operator or ability to obtain one.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; college coursework preferred.
• Certified Pool Operator license (or ability to become certified) required.
• Previous experience using hand and power tools required.
• Knowledge of Plumbing and Carpentry basics.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems.
• Working knowledge of pool chemicals and filtration systems.

Responsibilities

• Repair tasks across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and A/C for structures and grounds.
• Clean breakout rooms, hallways, bathrooms, and offices.
• Support camp activities and set up for events (e.g., deliver firewood).
• Prepare facilities for scheduled guest activities (bonfires, gym, pools).
• Provide weekend coverage and emergency call-outs; report progress to supervisor.
