Job summary

Capstone On-Campus Management is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Montclair, NJ. The role collaborates with facilities staff to upkeep, repair, and renovate the Heights, covering HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems.

You will participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and winter weather responses. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED with 3–5 years in residential or student housing settings, plus experience in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years’ experience in residential or student communities preferred.
• Experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate stairs.
• Strong communication and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance on HVAC systems including thermostats, filter changes, belt changes, oil/lubing, cleaning of registers, diffusers, and vents.
• Maintain, repair, and replace public area, office, and residential furniture as needed.
• Perform general plumbing repairs including leaks, drains, toilets, sinks, showers, and gaskets.
• Perform electrical repairs including but not limited to bulb and ballast replacement, fixtures, sockets, outlets, and GFCIs.
• Complete painting and drywall repair/replacement projects as scheduled.
• On-call maintenance rotation and respond to campus within 30 minutes.
• Assist with restoring rooms and common areas to their original condition after move-outs.
