Job summary

Bridge Over Troubled Waters in Boston seeks a Facilities and Maintenance Technician to diagnose problems, perform repairs and handle service requests across carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation and plumbing. The role includes on-call duties, coordination with vendors, and keeping the facility in safe, clean condition.

The candidate should have 2–3 years’ maintenance experience, ability to work independently, and a valid MA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years’ experience in a maintenance-level position or related field required.
• Experience in a nonprofit homelessness setting preferred.
• Basic understanding and execution of the trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry etc) required.
• Able to work on roofs/gutters, basements and foundations in tight areas and construction zones.
• Wallpaper/Painting including use of paint sprayer necessary.
• Experienced in the use of basic cleaning supplies and equipment required.
• Able to work independently and will take ownership of responsibilities.
• Must be personable with exceptional communication skills and a positive attitude, demonstrate attention to detail, and represent Bridge positively and professionally.
• Valid Massachusetts driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance service requests as assigned.
• Make minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs; coordinate with vendors for permits on large projects.
• Coordinate and assist with moves of departments, residents and employees.
• Hang pictures, decor and shelving; dismantle and install furniture.
• Transport goods or equipment as needed.
• Perform cleaning duties to maintain a clean, compliant facility.
• Oversee special projects and monitor work by outside contractors.
• Support 24-hour emergency maintenance as scheduled.
