Our mission is to transform the lives of youth through safe, supportive and encouraging relationships, counseling, housing, and skill-building, to guide them towards self-sufficiency and achieving their goals.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for executing maintenance requests by diagnosing problems, making repairs, and ensuring that service requests and repairs are made in a timely manner. This includes carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, plumbing, etc. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Facilities and Operations Manager.

RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned.
  • Makel minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry related repairs, as necessary. Works with vendors to complete permitting on large-scale projects.
  • Coordinates and assists with departmental, resident and employee moves.
  • Hangs pictures, office decor and shelving etc., as needed.
  • Dismantles and installs furniture.
  • Transports goods or equipment as assigned.
  • Performs immediate cleaning duties necessary to maintain a clean and compliant facility.
  • Coordinates and oversees special projects.
  • Assists in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.
  • Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled.
  • Carries cell phone as required for on-call maintenance staff.
  • Monitors and maintains all building systems as assigned.
  • Completes grounds work including picking up trash, sweeping sidewalks to the curb, removing snow, and maintaining dumpster areas, landscaping beds and other areas.
  • Responsible for alerting Operations Manager of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that has taken place or that may occur.
  • Maintains a courteous professional manner with all residents, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.
  • Assures safety standards are used that comply with all company, local, city, state and federal guidelines.
  • Ensures compliance of all work-related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner.
  • Follows established company policies and those outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as determined.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a maintenance-level position or related field required. Experience in a nonprofit homelessness setting preferred.
  • Basic appliance repair, small engine operation, site cleanliness and modern maintenance applications required.
  • Basic understanding and execution of the trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry etc) required.
  • Able to work on roofs/gutters, basements and foundations in tight areas and construction zones.
  • Wallpaper/Painting including use of paint sprayer necessary.
  • Experienced in the use of basic cleaning supplies and equipment required.
  • Able to work independently and will take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Must be personable with exceptional communication skills and a positive attitude, demonstrate attention to detail, and represent Bridge positively and professionally. Strong customer service mindset necessary.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

PAY AND BENEFITS

The hourly range for this position is $22-$25. Benefits include:

  • Paid time off (sick time, vacation time, personal time) as well as 13 paid holidays and a birthday holiday

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up and exceeding 100 pounds.
  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
