Job summary

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a full-time Facilities Support Assistant to maintain a complex facility at 1051 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10032. The role involves routine maintenance, handling work orders, logging activities in CMMS or paper records, and ensuring safety policies are followed.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to work unsupervised are essential. Responsibilities include light construction, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of maintenance experience in institutional or industrial environment.
• At least 2 years of general skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Light construction, carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling and electrical work as required.
• Evaluating, repairing, and maintaining plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC systems in the building.
• Receiving and responding to customer requests of mechanical or maintenance issues on the premises.
• Solving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various production and facility equipment.
• Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns.
• Reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures, electrical schematics, blueprints, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance work.
• Assembling and disassembling/installing new machines, equipment, etc.
• Keep accurate records of time spent working, description of work performed and materials used.
