Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: 1 year as Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator, OR 2 years in custodial/grounds/maintenance or journeyman trade experience.
• Valid New York State driver's license required for vehicle operation.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Facility Operations Assistants 1 or other grounds/custodial/maintenance crews and assigns work based on management priorities, ensuring schedules and guidelines are met.
• Maintains written records of work performed and materials used; reports progress to supervisor.
• Performs routine replacement/repair of plumbing and steamfitting equipment and installation of new equipment according to supervisor layouts; cuts, fits, threads pipes; removes old pipes/fixtures.
• Repairs or adjusts fixtures such as filters, pumps, thermostats; locates and unplugs stoppages; checks oil level in storage tanks; repairs leaks; overhauls vacuum pumps; insulates steam lines.
• Repairs doors, windows, window sashes, stairs, railings, furniture, locks, and door hardware.
