Job summary

River Trails Park District in Mount Prospect, IL seeks a skilled Trades Worker I to perform maintenance on buildings, grounds and infrastructure for the district’s parks and facilities. The role includes a rotating on‑call schedule and weekday shifts, with seasonal adjustments as required.

You will typically work Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., with occasional evenings. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required; CPO within 12 months is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
• Demonstrates ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment.
• Strong organizational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• High school diploma or GED; valid driver’s license; background check required.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled maintenance on buildings, grounds, and playgrounds.
• Read plans and perform carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and related tasks.
• Maintain records, reports and project documentation with accuracy.
• Support pool operations, seasonal openings and winterization as needed.
• Participate in on‑call schedule and coordinate with staff and patrons.
