Job summary

Phoenix House is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Long Island City/Queens, NY facility. The role involves maintaining facilities, performing repairs, and handling electrical and plumbing tasks to keep operations smooth. Qualifications

• At least 1 year of maintenance experience or training.
• HVAC experience of 5–10 years required.

Responsibilities

• Keeps facilities in compliance with guidelines and maintains good appearance.
• Executes general repairs across facilities.
• Performs visual walk-throughs on receipt of work orders and conducts additional work if needed.
• Maintains and keeps tools in good working order.
• Keeps an accurate inventory of tools and maintains neat maintenance areas.
• Checks fuel oil levels and visually inspects machinery and equipment.
• Dismantles defective machines and installs parts.
• Cleans and lubricates machinery components.
• Assists in maintaining inventory of on-hand supplies.
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus and related components.
• Lays out, assembles, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.

You Will Have Responsibilities Including But Not Limited To

• Keeps facilities in compliance with all guidelines and in good appearance.
• Completes general repairs in all facilities.
• Upon receipt of work orders performs visual walk through of facility upon arrival and does additional work, if necessary.
• Maintains and keeps tools in good working order.
• Keeps an accurate inventory of tools.
• Keeps maintenance areas neat and orderly.
• Checks fuel oil levels.
• Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment as necessary.
• Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of on-hand supplies.
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
• Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of one years related experience and/or training in general maintenance
• Minimum of five to ten years HVAC experience required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This job regularly works in an indoor office environment and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
