Job summary

JUF is seeking a facilities maintenance worker in Chicago, IL to keep the physical plant clean, safe, and well-maintained. Under supervision, you will perform preventive maintenance, tackle repairs beyond basic handyman tasks, and assist in coordinating with contractors for complex work.

The role requires a high school diploma, two years of related experience, technical training, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Two years related experience.
• Technical training in all areas required by position responsibilities.
• Driver's license.
• Ability to walk long distances, up stairs, climb ladders while carrying heavy loads up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance tasks to keep the facility neat and orderly.
• Performs routine repairs to plant and equipment.
• Directs work of assistants as appropriate.
• Assists in arranging and preparing specs for outside service contractors.
• Ensures safe operating conditions per inspection requirements.
• Provides input on changes to the physical plant, remodeling, refurnishing or decorating.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned.
