Job summary

Extended Care in Chicago, IL is seeking a self-starting maintenance assistant to support ongoing repairs and preventive maintenance across building systems. You will fix minor issues, inspect control panels and electrical wiring, replace light bulbs, and assist during renovations under the supervision of a facilities or maintenance manager.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems, hands-on experience with tools, and

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
• Experience using hand and electrical tools.
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina and dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Performing minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, tile, drywall, etc
• Checking control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
• Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
• Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)
• Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations
• Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues
• Keep detail records of temperature logs, repairs, general maintenance, etc
