Job summary

The Town of Nantucket seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the Department of Public Works. Under the Maintenance Foreman, you perform routine carpentry, painting, basic plumbing and electrical work to keep town facilities in good repair.

You will operate a range of tools, including jackhammer, chipper and chainsaw, with licensing requirements to be met within two years. This is a full-time position with union benefits and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and up to 3 years of experience in grounds/roadway maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Requires Class D Massachusetts license at time of hire; Hoisting license (2A, 4E or 4G) and CDL-B tanker endorsement within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine semi-skilled maintenance for town facilities, including carpentry, painting, simple plumbing and simple electrical work.
• Operate and maintain power and hand tools such as jackhammer, chipper and chainsaw.
• Work under the direction of the Maintenance Foreman to keep town facilities in good repair.
