Job summary

Jewish Council for Youth Services (JCYS) is seeking a reliable Facility Maintenance Technician - Floater to support four JCYS facilities in the Chicagoland area, with duties across lobbies, restrooms, and common areas. The role requires daily inspections, basic building systems knowledge, ability to lift 30 lbs, and strong organizational skills.

Travel between JCYS sites is required; a valid driver’s license is necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• 1–3 years of maintenance, custodial, or facilities experience.
• Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Strong organization and time management.
• Able to work independently and follow supervision and vendor instructions.

Responsibilities

• Daily Facility Inspections: Provide maintenance coverage at multiple facilities based on operational needs.
• Building Cleanliness & Order: Maintain clean, safe, and presentable lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and other shared spaces.
• Sanitization: Disinfect high-touch and high-traffic areas daily to support a healthy environment.
• Restroom Maintenance: Restock restroom supplies, clean fixtures, and ensure all equipment is in proper working order.
• Supplies & Equipment Management: Receive, store, and track maintenance supplies; keep equipment organized and ready for use.
• Grounds & Exterior Care: Sweep sidewalks, pick up litter, service exterior trash bins, and maintain curb appeal.
• Seasonal Tasks: Clear snow and ice from walkways and parking areas as needed to ensure safety.
• Routine Maintenance & Repairs: Perform basic upkeep such as changing light bulbs and making minor fixes
• Project Support: Collaborate with the Property Manager on larger maintenance projects, repairs, and vendor coordination as needed.
• Work Area Care: Keep all maintenance rooms, closets, and storage areas clean, safe, and well organized.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Support additional maintenance or facility needs as directed by management.
