Job summary

Pennington County is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, repair, and upkeep of county buildings and grounds. The role involves carpentry, plumbing, electrical tasks, and landscape maintenance across multiple facilities.

You will operate a range of maintenance equipment, participate in on-call rotations, and ensure safety policies are followed. A valid driver’s license and basic building maintenance experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum eight months experience as B&G Maintenance Tech 1 or two years’ basic building maintenance repairs.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unaided and up to 80 lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repair tasks (drywall, carpentry, plumbing, electrical) with hand and power tools.
• Maintain grounds including irrigation and equipment operation.
• Operate county vehicles and maintenance equipment and keep areas neat.
• Handle surplus FF&E, deliveries, and special event setups.
• Assemble and move furniture, fixtures and equipment as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and weather-related closures to protect facilities.
• Complete work orders promptly and report issues to supervisor.
