Job summary

Penobscot County is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance across campus facilities. The role involves painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and landscaping, with duties executed per established procedures and under supervision.

This position is essential during weather events and major campus evolutions. The successful candidate will work as part of the Facilities team, have a cooperative attitude, and report to the Facilities

Qualifications

• Experience in building trades (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC)
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
• Ability to read and follow manufacturer instructions and written/verbal guidance

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance of buildings and grounds
• Repair plumbing to prevent water damage and restore fixtures
• Apply preventative measures to reduce future problems
• Fix safety hazards to prevent injuries
• Complete monthly safety inspections (fire extinguishers, emergency lights, exit signs)
• Test emergency generator monthly
• Carry out carpentry, drywall and painting repairs
• Groundskeeping and snow removal
• Maintain and service equipment
• Install replacement furniture/equipment
• Assist in coordinating day-to-day tasks and monitor ticket system
