Job summary

Grand Valley State University is seeking a General Maintenance Assistant for the 2nd shift in Facilities Services. The role supports all trades, performs building maintenance, and handles preventative maintenance and safety compliance for campus facilities.

You will work with electrical, plumbing, painting, HVAC and other trades, lead student staff, and participate in emergencies. A valid driver's license and ability to work long shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance and trades.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Willingness to work off shifts, holidays, overtime.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist trades and maintenance staff on work assignments.
• Perform general building maintenance across trades.
• Repair and preventative maintenance of equipment.
• Follow safety standards and instructions.
• Lead student staff and attend safety meetings.
• Attend to facilities emergencies when needed.
