Job summary

SUNY Brockport is seeking a Maintenance Assistant - Facilities to perform routine maintenance, installations, and repairs across mechanical, building, and electrical trades. The role supports the Facilities Maintenance department under supervision, with opportunities to advance skills and work on varied projects.

The position requires two years of maintenance experience, a NYS driver's license, and the ability to obtain asbestos-related certification.

Qualifications

• Two years full-time maintenance or mechanical experience.
• Ability to read plans, specifications, manuals and blueprints.
• Able to obtain asbestos removal certification and related safety trainings.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily facility inspections and address maintenance tasks across zones.
• Execute corrective actions and report to supervisor; coordinate with trades.
• Assist skilled trades personnel as needed.
• Review work orders in the Footprints system and provide feedback.
• Perform snow removal and overtime as required.
• Handle hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols.
• Work in confined spaces using PPE.
• Use trade tools and equipment to complete maintenance tasks.
