Job summary

CONCORDIA is seeking a maintenance worker to keep grounds, facilities and equipment in safe, efficient condition in a healthcare or residential setting. The role supports nursing staff, performs routine maintenance, and responds to repairs and safety concerns in line with policies.

The ideal candidate has at least a 10th grade education, can follow instructions, and makes independent decisions while maintaining tools and spaces.

Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education.
• Ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of maintenance work areas.
• Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices.
• Mathematical Skills: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
• Reasoning Ability: solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Follow maintenance schedules for the assigned shift or area.
• Report accidents/incidents to your supervisor.
• Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
• Perform routine maintenance on grounds, facilities, and equipment including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical tasks.
• Ensure safety precautions are followed and proper storage/cleanup after tasks.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident care information.
• Assist with lifting heavy equipment and supplies as directed.
• Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
