Job summary

St. Mary's Home in Norfolk is seeking a dedicated Facility Maintenance Worker to support a safe, welcoming environment.

Under the Facilities Maintenance Manager, you perform general building and grounds maintenance, preventive tasks, and repairs to keep the Home running smoothly. You will inspect systems, use hand and power tools, fix electrical switches and HVAC components, replace lighting, perform plaster/drywall work, and assist with lawn care and exterior upkeep while following safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanically inclined and comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Physically able to perform manual work (lifting, bending, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Conducts preventive maintenance schedules (PMS) on assigned building equipment on scheduled days.
• Performs daily inspections, routine maintenance, and scheduled maintenance as assigned.
• Uses a variety of tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Troubleshoots and repairs faulty equipment, including electrical switches and air-conditioning units.
• Replaces light bulbs and checks for lighting issues throughout the facility.
• Performs general repair tasks including plaster or drywall repair, and maintenance of roofs, windows, doors, floors, and woodwork.
• Carries out lawn care, parking lot maintenance, and other outdoor upkeep as directed.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and organized workspace, and follows all health and safety guidelines.
• Supports a positive, collaborative team culture by communicating respectfully and contributing to shared goals.
