The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a professional capable of assisting with the maintenance and operation of the physical plant and grounds.This person will be completing a wide variety of maintenance tasks and must be familiar with a broad range of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical applications.He/she must be able to work under supervision as well as perform tasks unaided and independently.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is considered an essential employee.He/she must be available 24 hours per day and is required to promptly address snow removal, ice treatment, burst pipes, backup generators, and any other emergencies.Essential employees are expected to be available by phone, report for work during inclement weather, notify the supervisor in advance if they will be unavailable for any reason, and report for work in a timely fashion when called to deal with any emergency.

This position will include outside year-round work including digging, hauling, shoveling, etc. and will require frequent bending, squatting, and lifting.

Applicant must agree to a pre-employment background check, which includes a review of any criminal activity and driving record, and a pre-employment drug screen.Qualified applicants will be administered a written test to determine experience level and ability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and installation tasks for the physical plant and mechanical equipment, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment and facilities.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions with staff and residents.
  • Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, adhering to safety standards and protocols.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and other maintenance staff to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement of facilities.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Perform seamless drywall repairs and paint.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or a related field is an asset.
  • Proven experience in maintenance and repair, preferably in facilities management.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience with electrical maintenance and repair.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor, such as digging, hauling, shoveling, lifting heavy equipment (50+ lbs.), and working outside in extreme temperatures (hot/cold) and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work under supervision as well as perform tasks unaided and independently.
  • Be on-call and respond promptly to address snow removal, ice treatment, burst pipes, backup generators, and any other emergencies.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record is required.
  • Ability to pass a background check, pre-employment drug screen, and maintenance aptitude test.
