Job summary

Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education.
• Ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of maintenance work areas.
• Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds, facility, and equipment following safety standards and internal policies.
• Follow maintenance schedules for the assigned shift or area.
• Report all accidents/incidents to supervision promptly.
• Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when working in resident areas.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility and equipment (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.).
• Replace bulbs and clean windows or screens as required.
• Service heating and cooling units in accordance with manufacturer guidance and policies.
• Ensure supplies are replenished in work areas and equipment stored properly.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and report any unauthorized disclosure of protected information.
