Job summary

Peak Properties, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician in the Chicago area to perform cleaning, basic maintenance, and safety-compliant tasks across common areas and facilities.

You will handle work orders, restroom service, waste disposal, and event setup while following company policies and local regulations. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years in janitorial/maintenance, is detail-oriented, able to work independently, and proficient with basic computer systems like Yardi and Outlook.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years’ experience in janitorial/maintenance duties.
• Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
• Competence with and/or desire to learn and use systems/tools (Yardi, Outlook).
• Must be detail-oriented and a motivated self-starter.
• Must have the ability to work independently.
• Communicate effectively, orally and written.
• Working knowledge of computers and automated systems.
• Must be reliable and responsible and maintain good attendance.
• Must have ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned work orders.
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Vacuum carpet, spot clean, shampoo and extract on an assigned basis.
• Clean and dust furniture, blinds and other surfaces; monitor interior plants.
• Service, clean, disinfect restrooms and restock supplies.
• Put ashes and refuse into provided receptacles for waste removal.
• Respond to safety hazards and report incidents to management.
• Replace lightbulbs inside and outside as needed.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment.
• Monitor building security and lock doors after hours.
• Notify managers of major repairs or system needs.
• Set up facilities for events and arrange furniture/equipment.
• Record supply inventory and inform when stocks run low.
• Assist in snow removal and ensure salt is used as needed.
