Job Overview

Purpose: Perform minor maintenance and repair work on plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, facilities, and equipment within the Medical Center. Troubleshoot pneumatic tube systems, perform routine vehicle maintenance, and assume independent responsibility for maintaining assigned facilities during non-standard hours.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: None required.
• Licenses/Certifications: None required by law.
• Preferred: Valid Georgia driver's license and adherence to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program (policy 3500).

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled inspections and maintain keys for designated buildings and equipment.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance.
• Maintain and repair beds and related operations.
• Log calls, perform minor repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and equipment; notify supervisors of urgent issues.
• Make minor repairs, check temperature settings, clean/change filters, and lubricate motors.
• Respond to fire alarm systems, disconnect electrical, water, or gas systems as needed to ensure safety.
• Assist in equipment removal and pneumatic tube system operation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of Life Safety codes and regulatory standards.
• Good understanding of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to operate mechanical and hand tools.
• Diagnose problems and perform needed repairs.
• Work independently and resolve issues efficiently.
