Job summary

Delaware Technical Community College is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic to perform a wide range of building maintenance tasks, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry. The role involves diagnosing issues, repairing systems, and coordinating with vendors to ensure safe, compliant operations.

The incumbent will read blueprints, follow safety guidelines, and operate heavy equipment to support campus facilities.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of relevant experience; or other equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and fixes building and equipment problems across carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC to keep facilities safe.
• Repairs and maintains building structures and equipment, including roofs, generators and HVAC.
• Upgrades inoperable building systems to provide safe, comfortable environments.
• Inspects facilities and coordinates with vendors to ensure safe operations.
• Replaces plumbing systems and components to restore function.
• Orders and stocks building supplies through state vendors.
