Job summary

Nordstrom, Inc. seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician I to help maintain safe, well‑kept Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom Rack locations in New Jersey.

You’ll perform preventive maintenance across buildings, systems, and grounds under supervision, with duties spanning carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. The role requires basic trade skills, a GED/HS diploma and 1 year of related experience, plus flexibility for varied shifts and strong communication across teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of related experience.
• Ability to understand and follow directions from FM or lead Technician.
• Effective communication with all organizational levels (written and verbal).
• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and off-hours.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency with power tools and willingness to learn more.
• General understanding of mechanical systems and processes.
• PC or laptop proficiency for work order systems, email, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and on-demand requests from Sales Floor with accurate records.
• Conduct daily inspections and building rounds.
• Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of plumbing, HVAC, roofs, lighting and electrical systems.
• Maintain lighting fixtures and replace bulbs as needed.
• Read electrical schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot.
• Perform manual labor tasks including lifting and moving materials.
• Follow safety rules and use LOTO, PPE, and fall protection.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with others as needed.
