Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) is seeking a hands-on maintenance worker at the Great Lakes location. The role involves upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures and equipment, with duties spanning painting, plumbing, carpentry and electrical repairs.

Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, inspecting systems, and assisting in installations while ensuring safety compliance and quality work.

Qualifications

• One year of general maintenance experience with upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures and equipment.
• Specialized maintenance work such as painting, plumbing, carpentry and electrical repairs is required.
• Physical ability to perform duties and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor carpentry tasks on doors, windows, furniture and fixtures using common tools.
• Inspect and ensure proper working condition of equipment, machinery and facilities.
• Prepare and paint surfaces such as shelves and counters using premixed paints and proper brushes.
• Assist in installation and repair of pipes, faucets, drains and related components.
• Perform electrical repairs to fixtures and appliances, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment like fans, AC units and other appliances.
• Maintain compliance with safety regulations and report hazardous conditions.
• Take periodic inventory of maintenance stock and equipment.
• Respond to customer questions regarding NHG room appliances and fixtures.
