Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking a Building Maintenance Supervisor to plan, coordinate, and supervise maintenance, repair, operation, and appearance of city buildings and related systems. The role oversees staff, preventative maintenance, work scheduling, inspections, and contractor services to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree with 3 years of building maintenance experience or a high school diploma with 5 years of building maintenance experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• HVAC experience and universal 608 HVAC certification recommended to enhance qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform operational checks of building systems at multiple city facilities.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other systems.
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for safety and proper functioning; address issues promptly.
• Respond to work orders and emergencies during and outside duty hours.
• Maintain a master lock system and oversee locksmithing for city facilities.
• Supervise and train building maintenance staff; manage performance and conduct evaluations.
• Manage service contracts, bids, and contractor coordination for planned/unforeseen projects.
• Maintain records of work, materials, and personnel hours; track inventory.
